My Story

Designing and realizing technical systems has always been a passion of Mark. He grew up on a farm and when he looks back he mainly thinks of the times when something had to be repaired or existing machines altered or optimized.

Mark started his professional education with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

After a year at work in his parents' agricultural company, he saw an opportunity to study mechatronics with as many aspects of mechanics and control engineering as possible so that he could design complete systems.

After his master's degree in mechatronics, Mark worked for a few years at the Robotics and Mechatronics department at the University of Twente. He was able to use his creativity and problem-solving skills for the complex robotic systems that were being developed.

A few years ago Mark saw an opportunity to do more applied research at the SMART research group at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. He started working on projects to increase the employability of drones for safety and security, inspection and maintenance and agricultural applications. Lately, he is focused on robotics for the agricultural sector together with farmers and high-tech machine builders.
